The fist machine in the system is a dual shaft shredder with 7 mm thickness blades. The blisters/foils fed in get shredded in 7 mm width and uneven length strips. During this operation most of the tablets larger than 8 mm will either break or get cut. All this shredded material falls on a separator. Separated out tablet powder and pieces less than 7 mm size. whole system has a dust collection arrangement.
The capacity depends on the shredder machine selected and the separator mechanism selected. Please see below example of a solution configuratiaon with 10 HP shredder
The system will give output upto 150-200 kg/hr with separation. In which you will get about 95% separation of tablet which are larger than 10 mm overall dimensions. And about 50-60% separation for tablet of < 10 mm in dimension. If you remove the separation mechanism (which can be easily removed) then the simple shredder can give output upto 300-450 kg/hr. In simple shredder you can shred all flat material cartons, shippers, literature, inserts etc..
If you have gel/liquid filled tablet/capsules then these are not to be shredded with normal tablets, as the gel/liquid and powder of tablets forms a cement like substance which sticks and blocks inside the shredder. Also there is no system to separate this gel from the blisters or foils. Hence we suggest following method.
· Required throughput kg/hr or number of strips/hr?
· Is tablet separation required?
· Are there any gel/liquid filled capsules?
